You know how magnificent the male lion can be. “The King of the Jungle” owes much of its prowess to its sleek, golden mane — kind of like a Serengeti version of Fabio.
And then there’s our guy, who’s less Fabio and more Joe Exotic.
Visitors to the Guangzhou Zoo in China were in for a real surprise at the “royal” section of the zoo this March. Instead of the usually long and wild mane, “his highness,” a male white lion named Hang Hang, was sporting a rather peculiar mane with very odd bangs.
Yes, bangs.
How could this happen? Well, the zookeepers, who were scrutinized and accused of giving the animal an unnecessary haircut, have denied having any part in it. (Apparently, it is super dangerous to cut a lion’s mane. Who knew? We did. We all did.)
The zoo insists no one cut Hang Hang’s bangs because it is far too risky. A spokesperson from the zoo explained that the haircut must have come from the lion grooming itself, and that the hairdo was probably a by-product of whatever weird grooming routine that may be.
Regardless of how it came about, now there’s a lion with a hairdo that looks a lot like Jim Carrey in “Dumb and Dumber,” which is far from a regal look.
And I ain’t lion.
