Cameron Diaz is an American actress. She rose to fame at the age of 21 with her role in 1994’s The Mask.
Diaz began modeling at a young age; she worked in ad campaigns for Calvin Klein and Coca-Cola when she was only 16.
Her first film role was in The Mask with Jim Carrey. Diaz had no previous acting experience and initially auditioned for a supporting role in the film. However, she was hired to play the female lead.
After The Mask, Diaz focused on her acting career in Hollywood and starred in many successful films and series, including My Best Friend’s Wedding, There’s Something About Mary, and Any Given Sunday.
In 2000, she starred in a film adaptation of the ‘70s TV show Charlie’s Angels. The year after, Diaz lent her voice to the animated Shrek.
After starring in the movie Annie in 2014, Diaz decided to take a break from acting and focus on her life, especially after getting married and having a daughter. The 11-year break helped her be more with her family and launch businesses like her popular wine Avaline.
“Nobody’s opinion, nobody’s success, no one’s offer, no one’s anything could change my mind about my decision of taking care of myself and building the life that I really wanted to have,” Diaz said.
Diaz made her comeback and announced that she accepted a role in the Netflix movie Back in Action.
“When you go back to something that you’ve done, there’s so much of it that you don’t have to think about. I was like, ‘Oh man, I just know how to hit my mark. I know what questions to ask the cameraman.’ The set was second nature to me.” Diaz said.
In addition to acting, Diaz wrote two health books with Sandra Bark.
