During my visit, and while talking with Mayor Michael Glaser, it became clear that Kenner’s story is closely tied to the larger story of Jefferson Parish. Kenner serves as both a gateway and a destination within the parish, offering its own experiences while reflecting the diversity and momentum of the region it belongs to.

Kenner is part of Jefferson Parish, one of the most dynamic regions in Louisiana. The parish spans a wide geographic and cultural range, stretching from Lake Pontchartrain on the east bank all the way down to the shores of Grand Isle.

Kenner has also seen continued development across the city. In Laketown, the Treasure Chest Casino has transitioned to a land-based facility, adding another entertainment option. Along Williams Boulevard, that parish-wide diversity becomes especially visible, with restaurants representing cuisines from Caribbean and Latin American communities, reflecting the area’s strong Latino presence.

Looking ahead, Rivertown is also positioned for growth. A cruise line is set to build a modern docking facility at LaSalle Landing, at the foot of Rivertown, a project expected to bring increased foot traffic and introduce new visitors to the area before they head elsewhere.

In addition to sweets, Debbie on the Levee serves breakfast and lunch, along with craft cocktails, making it an easy stop before or after exploring Rivertown.

Tucked into Historic Rivertown, Wrenworks Art Studio adds a creative dimension to a day in Kenner. Stepping inside, the pace shifts. Shelves of pottery pieces, rows of paint, and working clay create an environment that encourages hands-on exploration.
The studio offers paint-your-own pottery, clay art, wheel throwing, and workshops. Walk-in options make it accessible for visitors, while classes and events provide opportunities to spend more time creating.

Experiencing Kenner Within Jefferson Parish
Kenner, does not try to stand apart from Jefferson Parish. Instead, it reflects the parish’s diversity and momentum in its own way. From Rivertown’s revitalized streets to cultural institutions, creative spaces, neighborhood restaurants, and major developments on the horizon, the city offers a thoughtful introduction to the region.
With plans underway for a new cruise docking facility and a 15,000-seat amphitheater on Lake Pontchartrain, Kenner continues to position itself as a place where visitors arrive, stay, and explore.
Kenner is no longer just where a Louisiana trip begins. It is a destination within Jefferson Parish that rewards time, curiosity, and attention.
