Born in California 1998, Cloud grew up with younger twin sisters, and both his parents were professors. He attended the School of Production Design at Oakland School for the Arts.
While working at Woodland restaurant in Brooklyn, Cloud was scouted by Euphoria casting director Jennifer Venditti, which he initially thought it was a scam.
“When it happened, I thought she was just making stuff up. But I like to listen to people’s hustle. I respect all hustles,” he said once in an interview.
In the series, he played the role of Fezco O’Neill, a drug dealer who often provided moral guidance to some of the main characters in the series.
This was his first role, and Cloud had never actually acted before Euphoria. After accepting him for the role, Euphoria’s pilot director Augustine Frizzell said, “He did a reading and was just so crazy good with, like, zero training. It was like finding diamonds.”
Cloud suffered from addiction and had a serious skull injury after an accident he had when he was around 15, which Angus called a near-death experience, when he fell into a 10-foot-deep construction pit. After that, Cloud was prescribed opioid painkillers to manage his pain, then his addiction started.
During the filming of Euphoria Season 2, creator Sam Levinson noticed Cloud’s drug problem and encouraged him to go to rehab, which HBO paid for.
After being released from the program, Cloud went back to using drugs. Then, when his father passed, things got worse for the young actor, and just a week later, he was found dead at his family’s home on July 31, 2023.
Cloud’s family released a statement that said, “The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health, and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence.”
