Need a booze-infused vacay? ‘ Margarita Mile’ in Dallas is a must-visit

Frozen margarita at The Rustic in Dallas

Ahh, that Margarita Mile in Dallas.

Just the sound of it is soothing, especially for Texans who love their Tex-Mex (and really, who among us doesn’t? It’s one reason many people refuse to move away from Texas. No, really.), Just the word Tex-Mex invokes a thousand memories of Sunday enchilada lunches after church; of late-night queso and tacos with the boys after some serious time under those Friday night lights that burn so bright here.

Texans love Tex-Mex, and we will fight about it. And that includes over where the best margaritas are.

Now, if you don’t live here, you may not think of Dallas when it comes to Tex-Mex or margaritas. But you’re gonna have to just hold up a minute, because Dallas is home to some of the best and oldest Tex-Mex restaurants in the state. In fact, the frozen margarita machine was invented in Dallas, so it should come as no surprise that 20 Tex-Mex restaurants have teamed up for an officially unofficial margarita crawl, and they’re all serving up some of the most delicious tequila concoctions you can imagine.

That’s right. Instead of fighting about who has the best, these restaurants have banded together to make it a real party, including freebies for people who patronize more than a few. So, if you’re itching for a weekend getaway that involves copious amounts of tequila and a lot of really terrific enchiladas, tacos y mas, Dallas’ Margarita Mile may be just what you’re looking for. There’s even a website run by VisitDallas that’s dedicated to the Margarita Mile, including lots of information about what it is and where to go. There’s even a quiz to test your knowledge.

The season officially kicks off this summer, so check out the site above for dates and details.

P.S. There’s other cool stuff to do in Dallas besides drinking margaritas. Just sayin’.

While you’re here, check out BuzzFeed BringMe’s video for some of their favorite margaritas:
