And about two years ago, the family’s 7-year-old golden retriever Barley began having seizures. Vets diagnosed her with epilepsy and were able to save her, but the medicine had side effects that made Barley so depressed.

But once they adopted the duck, Barley started visiting it every morning, and in no time they created a special bond that made Barley’s life bright again.

Hospital stay breaks a boy’s 300-day Duolingo streak

A 10-year-old Duolingo user lost his streak because of medical issues.

A user on X, who goes by @762cayuga, shared on Aug. 11 that her son lost a streak that he’d held down for more than 300 days after being at the hospital.

“Any chance you can help a little Duo fan out?” the parent asked on X. “He’s home and recovering, but heartbroken about losing his streak. Any chance some Duo magic can restore it?”

And if you’re unfamiliar with Duolingo, a streak is the number of consecutive days that a user has completed a lesson on Duolingo, and if you lose it, the counter resets to zero.

Duolingo responded on the platform and by the next morning, the streak was back.

“Let’s get that streak going again,” the company responded to the parent on X.
