The secret island hideaway in a national park

After surviving the pandemic, doesn’t a relaxing vacation on a private island sound glorious? It could be easier and more affordable to achieve than you might think. Once you’re ready to gather friends and family, you can rent a cabin that sleeps 10 and have Coney Island all to yourself for less than $40 per person.

The Cabin on Coney Island is not in Brooklyn

This Coney Island is an island located in Hinton, West Virginia, a popular swimming spot since the early 1900s, and now, part of New River Gorge National Park and Preserve. Following the passing of a recent bill, West Virginia’s New River Gorge is now federally protected as a national park and preserve, making it the newest addition to the National Parks Service.

7 splendid, private acres all to yourself

When you rent the cabin, managed by The Guest House Inn, a subsidiary of MountainPlex, you have the entire island to yourselves. The cabin on the seven-acre island offers loads of amenities, as you can see in this video posted on the inn’s YouTube channel.

Bring the whole gang!

The cozy cabin has three bedrooms: two rooms with queen beds and a sleeping loft with three trundle-style twin-sized beds, providing room for up to 10 people to sleep.

It also has a kitchen stocked with essentials and 1.5 bathrooms.

And did we mention your own sandy beach?

Plenty of beautiful scenery

“The cabin is perfect for a small group or a romantic weekend retreat,” Stephanie Stiffler, the director of hospitality for MountainPlex, told West Virginia Executive. “The outside has a beautiful custom fire pit right off the front porch, outdoor games, hammocks, a screened-in porch overlooking the beautiful New River, a sandy beach and even a walking trail to the tip of the island.”

You’re gonna need a boat

The cabin is available from mid-May through September, with rates starting at $332 a night. The island is only accessible by water, but guests can use a local ferry service, rent a boat or even paddle across. Reservations can be made through Airbnb or at guesthousewv.com.
