Rita Moreno has revealed how she used Elvis Presley in vengence to make Marlon Brando jealous during their turbulent relationship from 1954 to 1962.
In her recent appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Moreno said she started dating Presley after finding women’s unmenationables at Brando’s home. “I find a lady’s underwear in his house and I go home brokenhearted, hurt, angry [and] just destroyed,” Moreno said. “I should have known better, but I didn’t.”
The chance to get back at Brando arose when Colonel Parker, Presley’s manager, telephoned her. As Morena observed, Parker told her, “I handle Elvis Presley and he saw you in the restaurant of the 20th Century Fox and he liked what he saw.”
“Marlon found out and went crazy because, of course, despite the underwear in his house, he was entitled, I was not,” Morena noted. “He asked me to come over and he was in a rage…he started to throw chairs. It was wonderful.”
