Can you identify these musicians’ famous musical parents?

Many of us wish to follow in the footsteps of our parents. This is why so many hardware stores change their names from “Steve’s Hardware Store” to “Steve and Sons’ Hardware Store” after about 20 years in business.

 

It’s no different in the music business. Many famous musicians are the children of other famous musicians, a fact that sometimes escapes the general public. Can you guess who the famous parent is in the case of their famous musical offspring?

1. Norah Jones is the daughter of this Indian musician

How did George Harrison get into Indian music and the sitar? The answer is Norah Jones’ father Ravi Shankar, who is also the father of musician Anoushka Shankar. Shankar was a renowned sitar virtuoso and composer who played a pivotal role in popularizing Indian classical music in the Western world.

2. Rufus Wainwright is the son of this Canadian folk singer

If you’re not familiar with the band Inhaler, it’s okay. Their lead singer and guitarist Elijah Hewson is the son of one Paul David Hewson, known to music fans as U2’s Bono.
