An incredible restored and colorized tour of New York City in 1911

Colorized tour of New York City in 1911

Ever wonder what New York City was like in, say, 1911? Well, YouTuber Denis Shiryaev took footage from, yes, you guessed it, New York in 1911 and colorized it. The original film was taken by Swedish company Svenska Biografteatern.

The colorized video was boosted up to 4K, so the images are even sharper. To make the experience even more immersive, you can even hear the original audio, complete with ambient noises like boats, chit-chat and horses clip-clopping along as they pull carriages around the Big Apple.

The video tour of New York City starts with a stunning view of The Statue of Liberty. You’ll also see New Yorkers going about their business on a rainy day. As the video goes on, you will even spot a few cars amid the New York carriage traffic!
