Rescued horses are ready for new homes
After being rescued from a neglected sanctuary in Julian earlier this year, 37 horses are now healthy and ready for adoption through the San Diego Humane Society.
One of the rescued horses, Oscar, was sent to a new home with the Unconditional Love Foundation, where he will serve as a therapy horse for veterans with PTSD.
Walgreens kitten
North Port Fire Rescue crews responded to a call about a kitten that got its head stuck in a propane exchange locker outside a Walgreens in North Port.
Rescuers safely freed the curious kitten. Animal services also responded and checked the kitten, but it didn’t have a microchip, so a Walgreens employee adopted the kitten on the spot.
15 pigs cause highway chaos in New Jersey
On the 29 of July, fifteen pigs ran away from a farm in Frankford and were running loose on the highway. New Jersey State Police, animal control officials, and the farm owner returned the pigs safely to their pasture, and no injuries were reported.
Mason and the newspaper
Every morning, Mason, a sweet golden retriever, gets up, grabs the newspaper from the front yard, and brings it inside for his family.
It’s always been an important familial duty for him. As Mason got older, he started losing his vision. After his doctors recommended eye removal surgery, Mason lost his vision completely. Once he recovered, his owner, Fussell, let him out the front door to see whether he still remembered where the paper was.
Mason knew exactly where to go and sniffed around until he found the newspaper, and since then he has brought it in every single morning.
The Buffalo Zoo’s newest member
The Buffalo Zoo has welcomed a cute new baby, an endangered addax calf. Addax are rare white antelopes with long, twisted horns that originally come from the Sahara Desert.
The little baby is doing great and spending lots of time playing and running around. You can visit the zoo and enjoy the baby’s morning zoomies as gates open around 10:00 AM.
