It’s officially the season of the witch. But does anyone even dress as a witch for Halloween anymore?
The answer, if you’re going by the best-selling costumes on Amazon, is no.
Kids and adults are still opting for some traditionally scary costumes, including one straight out of a classic monster movie, but the costumes mostly fall into a few categories. Babies go cute– they have no choice. Kids favor superheroes, princesses, movie and TV characters. Adults tend to go as movie heroes, and a few looks that fall into the “sexy” costume trope.
What about costumes inspired by current events? On this list, there’s just one, inspired by one of the summer’s two ballyhooed 50-year anniversaries of iconic events.
See the trends in action in this lineup of 50 costumes compiled from Amazon.com’s Best Sellers list. (FYI… updated hourly so the lineup is always changing. Prices may vary as well.)
