Ricky Gervais & 10 other ‘crazy’ celebrity cat people

These days, celebrities share more of their personal lives than ever, whether it’s their latest outfits, vacations, or parties attended. Now add pets to the list of things celebrities love to show off. On social media, numerous stars can’t get enough of posting about their furry friends. And it turns out dogs aren’t the only pet that’s where it’s at. Many celebrities are bonafide cat-crazed and proud of it.

These celebrities are known for being big fans of their “purr-fect” feline friends.

1. Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift is well-known for her love of cats — she owns three of them. Her furry friends are named Olivia Benson, Meredith Grey, and Benjamin Button. The songstress adores felines so much that she begged for a role in the 2019 film adaptation of the musical “Cats,” where she played the role of Bombalurina.

2. Katy Perry

The songstress had a cat aptly named Kitty Purry, who passed away at the age of 15. Perry’s cat was so important to her that she developed a lipstick shade of the same name with makeup brand Cover Girl.

3. Ed Sheeran

The musician is the owner of two cats named Dorito and Calippo. He is so enamored with his kitties (one of which is a Scottish Fold just like Swift’s) that he created an Instagram page just for them, @thewibbles.  The account has over 200,000 followers.

4. Kate Beckinsale

The actress calls herself a  “cat person,” and often posts pics of her Persians to social media dressed in various costumes. Beckinsale has said she was devastated when her cat Clive, who was a heavy fixture on her Instagram, passed away in 2023.

5. Martha Stewart

The lifestyle guru introduced two Bengal cats into her household in 2022, calling them on Instagram “adventuresome, very fast, and devious.” Stewart previously lost her beloved Persian cat Princess Peony when the pet was attacked by Stewart’s dogs.

6. & 7. Alison Brie & Dave Franco

Actors Alison Brie and husband Dave Franco are bonded over their pet cats. The couple share three cats named Arturo, Max, and Otis, and Brie has said that they love to spend time with their feline friends, claiming that she and Franco are “devoted” to them.

8. Ricky Gervais

The comedian’s cat, named Pickle, has all but taken over Gervais’s Instagram account. Previously the cat lover has said that Pickle was just going to be a foster as he got over the death of his beloved Siamese cat Ollie, but it only took a day for him to change his mind.

9. Ian Somerhalder

The Vampire Diaries actor is such a fan of cats, he may even have Swift beat as the most cat-crazy person on this list. Somerhalder is so enamored with cats that he’s brought his feline Moke to numerous photoshoots and sets to pose with him. The actor also launched his own charity, the Ian Somerhalder Foundation, which focuses on animal rescue, including various cat-related causes.

10. Ellen DeGeneres

DeGeneres has a house full of pets, including at least three dogs and three cats. The talk show host was known for an annual “Cat Week” on her daytime show “Ellen”, which featured daily cat videos and funny feline content.

11. Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus is known as a huge animal lover, owning a menagerie of at least a dozen pets. The songstress’s pet posse includes dogs, horses, a pig, and of course, a few cats. Cyrus’s cat Shanti, a fluffy white Persian, even has its own Instagram page.

27 whip-smart dog breeds

27 whip-smart dog breeds

Every dog parent wants to believe their precious furry baby is the smartest dog on the block. Their love for these little (and sometimes not so little) companions can blind them to the many times their dog ran into walls, barked at themselves in the mirror or got stumped at a simple command.

No matter if you’re looking to determine if your dog really is smart or if you’re looking for a furry friend who will be easy to train, The American Kennel Club can help. Their list of the smartest dog breeds can help you determine just how intelligent these common breeds are.

AKC doesn’t rank dogs from most to least smart; however, the list can still give you an idea of which dog breeds tend to be the most intelligent and few characteristics that make them so.
