The Dodge Demon and Ford F-150 Raptor are two vehicles that don’t roll off the assembly line needing help in the horsepower department, but that didn’t stop Hennessey Performance from working its magic under the hood.
“Let’s see how far we can push it,” company founder John Hennessey said of the builds sitting outside the south all at the recent SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
Hennessey’s Demon is, for lack of a better word, insane. The car is capable of hitting a whopping 1,200 horsepower. A stock Demon runs the quarter mile in 9.65 seconds. Hennessey’s does it in 9.1.
“It’s ridiculous,” he said.

Under the hood

So far, Hennessey Performance has upped the power of 24 Demons at its facility near Houston, Texas, where it customizes vehicles like the F-150 Raptor.
“If I’ve heard from one Raptor enthusiast, I’ve heard from thousands,” Hennessey said.

Driven as intended

His take, the VelociRaptor, elevates the already cool truck to the next level. Ford only offers a V6 EcoBoost from the factory that is capable of making 450 horsepower. In its place, Hennessey dropped a Ford 5-liter V8. After a long list of engine additions, including a supercharger, the VelociRaptor makes 758 horsepower. It goes from zero to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds.
A stage 2 off-road suspension was added as well, which gives the truck a 6-inch lift. The stainless steel, cat-back exhaust gives the truck a signature rumble.
“It sounds and drives as God intended it to be,” Hennessey said with a smile.
