Even though virtual reality is generating a lot of excitement, Apple has yet to develop its own VR hardware. Fortunately, some headsets are compatible with iPhones, giving those smartphone users a way to experience their own virtual reality. Here are eight VR headsets that you should consider trying if you own an iPhone.

1. Mattel View-Master VR

This is a cute, kid-friendly headset. It doesn’t fit over glasses and it lacks lenses, headphones and straps, but it is easy to use. The touch button is easy to locate as well. Though Mattel offers “experience reels” for the headset, you’re better off downloading one of many VR apps from the Apple store. The headset works perfectly with iPhones.

2. Goggle Tech C1-Glass

When it comes to open-sided headsets, the Goggle Tech C1-Glass stacks up well. It folds up flat, weighs just one ounce and comes with a carrying case. It’s also available in a few colors if you don’t like the standard black.
A Google Cardboard QR code is conveniently printed on the left side of the device. It’s also easy to access your phone’s screen while wearing the C1. Though it lacks headstraps, the gadget can fit over glasses.

3. ANTVR TAW

The ANTVR is a larger headset that, while sturdy, won’t fit in most pockets. It has a 100-degree field of view and adjustable lenses, making it easy to use while wearing glasses. Its weight makes it uncomfortable for long-term use, though the head straps are certainly more convenient than having to hold it in place.

4. BoboVR Z4

The BoboVR Z4 is one of the better VR headsets. It’s easy to use and comes standard with built-in headphones and a control button. It also has an impressive 120-degree view and adjustable lenses. Some users have reported difficulty using the headset’s buttons, but these complains are the exception, not the norm.

5. DSCVR

The DSCVR headset from I Am Cardboard is small, lightweight, sturdy and comes in several colors. While the device does not have straps — and the lenses are not adjustable—the DSCVR does have an easy-to-use power button. The device includes rubber straps for holding your phone in place, which, while serviceable, can take some getting used to.

6. Powis EcoViewer

The Powis EcoViewer is one of the pricier headsets on this list even though it’s made of cardboard. However, it’s sturdy cardboard, and the device is still easy to use. Its power button is easy to find, it holds phones in place snugly and its lenses are adjustable.

7. Merge VR

The Merge VR is a popular headset that comes with a headstrap and two buttons. The device can fit over glasses, has adjustable lenses and is comfortable to wear. Its field of view clocks in at 90 degrees.
Unfortunately, Merge VR isn’t without a few downsides. The device is made of rubber, which makes inserting and retrieving a phone difficult. You can find this headset on the company website or on Amazon.

8. Google Cardboard V2

I hated adding a headset that’s made of actual cardboard to this list, since it’s hardly a durable material. This device’s lenses are not adjustable, your phone barely stays in and its $15 tag seems high for all the trouble. Plus, Google Cardboard also lacks cutouts for augmented reality apps, making it a markedly less great VR headset for iPhone.
Still not sure what to buy? There are other plenty of other VR headsets to consider.
